What’s on in Cork in February

Hey everyone!

We’re back with another blog post this week, this time we’re giving you guys some ideas on what you can do in Cork in the month of February. We know it’s a week into the month already, so we’ll get straight to the ideas!

A Valentine’s meal:

Cork has its fair share of romantic restaurants depending on what you’re looking for but some of our staff’s favourite places to go for a meal on for a couple (or a self-date) would be SonFlour, Liberty Grill, and Koto.

UCC Trad fest:

The UCC students have a battle of the bands each year as part of their Trad fest run by the Trad Society and this year it’s going to be in An Spailpín Fánach which is in the city on Friday the 17th of February at 7.30 pm. A few other events are happening as part of the Trad Fest that you can get involved in, this is just our favourite. You can follow the Trad society’s Facebook or Instagram page for updates.

The Addams Family comedy musical:

This is another interesting evening activity you can do organized by Corks college students. It’s a comedy play put on by the MTU school of music students and it will be in the Everyman Theatre for a limited time from the 22nd-25th of February at 7.30pm with a Matinee on Saturday the 25th at 2.30pm. This one could have been inspired by the recent Netflix series Wednesday and we would highly recommend checking it out. You can get your tickets on the everyman’s website by clicking here.

Lastly, the Gab storytelling:

If you’re looking for a bit of Irish culture, and something unusual to do in the evenings you can join the Gab storytelling community for one of the monthly Storytelling evenings that they call the Gab Mixtape. You can follow their Facebook or Instagram pages to see where the next one will be. This one is especially useful if you’re looking to immerse yourself in Irish culture and practice your English listening at the same time! Click here to take a look at their latest Instagram posts.

That’s all from us this week but we’ll be back next week with another post so make sure to follow us for updates. If there’s anything in particular you would like us to write about let us know on our socials at @corkenglishcollege or by using the #corkenglishcollege.
