What’s on in Cork October 2023? 

We have another blog post for you this week giving you all the news on the best events happening in the city this month. The city of Cork gears up for an October packed with excitement and entertainment. From thrilling circus performances to a legendary jazz festival and a captivating street parade, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Cork this October.

Cirque du Freak – Circus Factory Cork

Kicking off the month with a dash of adrenaline and awe is the ‘Cirque du Freak’ hosted by Circus Factory Cork. The circus factory are Corks favourite performance group and always put on an amazing show, they just recently had their Pitchd festival in September so if you caught any of that you’ll already know we’re in for a treat, when we say these people can do anything we mean it!

Doors are at 7.30pm and it’s around €15 entry with prices for best dressed, you can book by clicking here. So, mark your calendars and get ready to be entranced by the magic of ‘Cirque du Freak’.

45th Guinness Cork Jazz Festival

A true hallmark of Cork’s cultural scene, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is celebrating its 45th year in 2023. Renowned for bringing together world-class musicians and jazz enthusiasts from all corners of the globe, this festival is a must-attend event for music aficionados.

The festival boasts an impressive lineup of live jazz performances across various venues throughout the city. From soulful solos to lively ensembles, the festival showcases the richness and diversity of jazz music. Most of the events are hosted in the cities main hotels, churches theatres and concert halls along with smaller ones in the pubs around the city and county.

The Dragon of Shandon

As the month nears its end, Cork transforms into a realm of mythical creatures and imaginative wonders with ‘The Dragon of Shandon’ parade. A Halloween extravaganza, this event is a fusion of art, culture, and community spirit. The parade features an array of spectacularly crafted giant puppets, lanterns, and performers, and the infamous “Dragon of Shandon” all coming together to tell a captivating story.

On October 31st , the streets of Shandon come alive with the flickering glow of lanterns and the spirited energy of the parade. It’s an event that embodies the magic of Halloween, offering a delightful experience for families and individuals alike.
