What’s On In Cork In February

As February approaches, Cork City is buzzing with plenty of events and activities to brighten up the chilly winter days. From cultural celebrations to music and dance Galas, there’s something for everyone in the heart of this vibrant city. If you’re wondering what to do in Cork this February, look no further! Here’s a curated list of 5 fun events in Cork City Centre that promise entertainment, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

1. Chinese New Year Celebrations: Feb 4th and 15th

Did you know that Shanghai is Corks sister city?

Cork is having its first ever Chinese New Year Festival this year to celebrate our increasing multi culturalism. The Chinese New Year Festival will take place at Nano Nagle Place on February 4th and later in the month, UCC Confucius Institute and Cork City Council will host a Chinese Spring Festival Gala on February 15th.

Nano Nagle place and Cork Chinese Esoteric Buddhist School will be hosting the first event on the 4th, and there will be a Lions and Dragons Dance on the front plaza of Nano Nagle Place at 4pm, followed by a performance of the 1,000 Light Dharma Rite from 5 to 6pm. Nano Nagle will be all done up as a Chinese Temple for the event.

The second event will be a Chinese Spring Festival Gala in the City Hall from 7pm to 8.30pm on the 15th and will feature a performance of the award-winning Hubei Opera and Dance Theatre Group.  The Group have toured over 60 countries, and this will be their debut performance in Ireland! 2. C-Town Madness and Valentines special in the Kino: Feb 9th

This Valentines Special is for music lovers, it’s an Afro event featuring a fusion of urban and Afro music. Let the beats take over as DJs Jay and Honey spin the night away. Tickets are €11.70. There will be bottle service and birthday bookings, plus free shots for the first 70 people to arrive, and a free bottle for the best dressed couple. 3. Mockie Ah’s Valentines Cabaret: Feb 13th

What would any Cork public Holiday be without a night of entertainment and laughter from our drag crowd Mockie Ah? Not worth having that’s what! This time around they’re having a Galantines Cabaret night Hosted by Comedy Central’s Candy Warhol that will feature Burlesque, drag, comedy and live music. 4. Valentines Day Speed Dating at the Bodega for remote workers: Feb 14th

For all the single remote workers out there, the Bodega is having a speed dating night on Valentine’s night. They’ll have hosts to make introductions easy and will give people arm bands to distinguish whether they are looking for romantic relationships or friendships so even if you’re not looking for romance and are a remote worker that feels out of the loop lately you should go.

It’s €10 entry, and you’ll get some pizza and a free drink on arrival to settle the nerves. The Bodega is a nice, relaxed spot, if you’ve been considering getting back on the horse lately this is a great way to do it! You can book that on Eventbrite by clicking here.

5. Take Off Dance Festival at the Firkin Crane: Feb 14th-16th

If you’re not in the mood for romancing but are in the mood for dancing the night away, you can go and see some of the performances of the Take Off Dance Festival at the Firkin Crane on Valentines weekend. This is the festivals second run, and it will be featuring performances from Ireland and Europe, this season with flavours of contemporary, Irish dance and hip-hop styles with international choreographers from Norway and France.
