Our 50+ Programme is designed especially for mature learners who are seeking a refreshing new experience while improving their English. This engaging programme combines morning language classes with a culturally rich and enjoyable social schedule created with the interests of older students in mind.
Throughout the course, participants develop their English skills in a relaxed, supportive environment alongside classmates from a similar stage in life. Lessons focus on practical communication, cultural topics, and confidence-building activities that make language learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
Outside the classroom, students explore Ireland’s heritage, traditions and natural beauty through a selection of guided excursions and cultural experiences. Set in the vibrant and welcoming city of Cork, the programme offers the perfect balance of learning, discovery and social connection.

Studying English on the CEC 50+ Programme gives mature learners the opportunity to enhance their language skills while enjoying a friendly, culturally rich experience in Cork. Participants can make new friends, explore local culture, and develop their confidence in English, all at a comfortable pace designed with the needs and interests of 50+ students in mind.
On the 50+ Programme, our English classes focus on helping you develop your overall language skills through enjoyable, engaging and practical activities tailored to mature learners. Each week includes:
• Grammar and vocabulary development – key learning points selected to match your needs, interests and goals
• A strong focus on speaking – lessons are designed to maximise your opportunities to communicate confidently
• Extended fluency practice, including guided discussions, role-plays, cultural conversations and short presentations
• Listening and reading activities using authentic, relevant and culturally rich materials
• Social and intercultural English, helping you use the language naturally during excursions, visits and everyday interactions
• Weekly homework tasks to reinforce grammar, vocabulary and communication skills
• Regular, detailed error correction from your teacher to support continuous improvement

We offer a range of different accommodation options for your stay in Cork. What type of activities can I look forward to?
We endeavour to cater for most tastes when it comes to activities, so we provide a wide choice, ranging from cultural visits to historic places of interest, to sports and lively night out. We want to make sure that you enjoy yourselves while you’re studying.
How will I get to the school?
All of our accommodation is either within easy walking distance of the school or within easy reach by public transport.
Where is the school located?
The school is located right in the heart of Cork, on the banks of the river Lee, but we’ll keep you too busy to admire the view! It is also within close walking distance of Cork’s main bus terminus and railway station.
Who else will be studying there?
We have students from all over the world studying with us, which adds greatly to the friendly atmosphere. In 2024 we had 63 different nationalities study with us!
Can I change my accommodation if I don’t like it?
Yes, our aim is to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible during your stay in Cork. If you have any issue with your accommodation we can arrange for you to speak with our dedicated accommodation office to find a solution.
What type of accommodation can I expect?
What type of accommodation would you like? We have a full range of options from living with a host family to self-catering apartments and hotels.
Will I be able to use the internet and email?
Yes, we have high speed Wi-Fi available for all students in each of our school buildings.
Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?
Yes, we’re a fully accredited and recognised school. You’ll receive a certificate of attendance at the end of your programme stating your exit level, course title and number of weeks. Don’t forget to get your photo taken with your certificate on your last day!
