Blackrock Castle & Space Observatory

Blackrock Castle is a castle located at Blackrock, about 2 km from Cork City centre on the banks of the River Lee. It was originally built in 1582 and has been modified over the years. It was originally built to protect Cork from pirates!

A space observatory was added to the castle in 2002.

The tour includes a new space exhibit, followed by a star show in the castle’s theatre and then the history of the castle.

We will take the bus there together so to make our tour on time and then we can walk back if time allows and take a coffee / ice-cream in the Marina Market!
