Festivals and Gigs in Cork this June

Cork has many festivals throughout the year, some of which you may be familiar with as they have worldwide fame such as the Cork Jazz Festival and the Cork International Film Festival to name just two.

And June is no exception, so here are some details about two festivals and a whole host of amazing gigs taking place in Cork this June.

1. Cork Harbour Festival- June 2-11

Cork harbour is the second largest harbour in the world and the Cork Harbour Festival festival celebrates Cork’s unique maritime history and culture.

All events take place in and around the harbour and river and there is something for everyone.

The main event ,Ocean to City – An Rás Mór, is Ireland’s most ambitious rowing and paddling race which takes place on Saturday 3 June and is a great spectacle to see

If you’d rather be on the water yourself you can try kayaking, paddle boarding and even power boating on the river Lee (booking is essential).

Alternatively, relax while listening to traditional sea shanties and maritime songs, or stories about Cork harbour and the river Lee.

For more info and bookings you can click here, and you can even volunteer to be involved in the big race!

2. Cork Midsummer Festival- June 14-25

Cork Midsummer Festival is an annual arts festival that features a variety of disciplines such as circus, dance, theatre, music and visual arts.

It uses Cork city as a backdrop and the performances and events take place in a wide variety of venues in Cork from Fitzgerald’s Park to the Marina Market.

The festival gives Cork audiences of all ages an opportunity to experience art events presented by national and international artists.

While some key events, such as the circus performance A Handful of Dreams and the iconic Island of Foam are free of charge, other events may require booking.
