Wish + past simple is used to express that we want a situation in the present (or future) to be different. Wish + past continuous is used to express that we want to be doing a different action in the present (or future). Note: In Standard English we use “I wish I were…” and “I wish it were…”
We will look at the verb ‘Wish’ in the past, present & future. We will also look at the difference between Wish & Hope, and also wish + would.
