Cork on a Fork Fest 2024

As a vibrant hub of culture and culinary delight, our city is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming Cork on a Fork Fest. From August 14th to 18th, Cork city will transform into a paradise for food enthusiasts, offering a feast for the senses that celebrates our rich culinary heritage and contemporary gastronomy.

At our English language school here in Cork, we believe in immersive learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. What better way to practice your English than by engaging with the local community, tasting traditional dishes, and experiencing Cork’s lively atmosphere?

Here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect at the Cork on a Fork Fest and five activities or events you simply can’t miss:

1. Food Trails and Tours

Dive into Cork’s culinary scene with guided food trails and tours. These tours will take you through some of the city’s hidden gems, offering a taste of everything from artisan cheeses to locally crafted beers. Not only will you get to sample delicious food, but you’ll also learn about Cork’s rich history and meet the passionate producers behind these treats. One we would recommend would be the Cork on a Fork Tasting Trail which is a 2.5/3-hour food stroll through Cork City with tasting, culture and architecture. You can book that by clicking here.

2. Cooking Demonstrations

Join live cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs from Cork and beyond. These sessions are perfect for picking up new recipes, learning cooking techniques, and getting inspired by culinary experts. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or a beginner, there’s always something new to learn and taste. For this one we would recommend the main demo event of the festival which is the Cork on a Fork Cooking Demo on Saturday in the Marquee at Emmet Place from 10.00am-5.30pm. This is a free event that you don’t need to book but spaces fill up quickly so you should go early on the day. You can meet Rachel Allen from Ballymaloe coking school here, and even the Hell’s Kitchen US winner Ryan O’Sullivan. Here’s a look at last year’s event.

3. Beer Festival

A fresh addition this year is the Cork on a Fork Beerfest, orchestrated by the Franciscan Well. This event will feature a variety of activities including brewery tours, a six-course dinner with each dish prepared using Franciscan Well beer, late-night gigs paired with beer tastings, and even an ice-cream festival showcasing beer-infused ice cream. This festival highlights the distinctive flavours of the Franciscan Well in venues across the city.

Cork on a Fork Fest is more than just a food festival; it’s a celebration of our city’s vibrant culture and community spirit. As you explore the festival, you’ll have ample opportunities to practice your English, make new friends, and immerse yourself in the local way of life.
